The correct spelling meant for voodoo is actually Vodou. Vodou was born within west Africa and during the importation associated with slaves it gave birth to Dominican Vodou, Haitian Vodou and Louisiana Voodoo.
Dominican Vodou as I call it - is basically Haitian Vodou, only, practiced with the Dominican Republic. This difference is not fantastic. We use the vast majority of same Loas, a great number of the same ceremonies, only with a "twist". Obviously, one key difference in practice is the language. Although, that Loas when "mounted on a horse's head", regardless if the pony speaks Kryol or even not, the Loa in the "head" definitely will speak certain words in Haitian Kryol. Another language talked by some Loas (especially Anaisa Py), is French. Nonetheless once again, the same house or office horse's first terminology, the Loa in head will connect it.
Contrary to popular belief, such as Haitian Voodun, students of Dominican Vodun believe in one main God, the Founder, Papa Bon Dy (the good God) as although actually absent from the The earth, he is still good to us all. In Haiti He additionally goes by Gran Met (the Great Master).
Very rarely might one go to a gathering of the spirits and not hear the Loas and all those current mention this brand. As, when such Loas enter they generally say: Bonswa some sort of la societ! Gracia a la Mesericordia de Papa Bon Dy y Las 21 Divisiones!. Interpretation "Hello (good evening) to all (the society)! Thanks to the Merci of The Good Jesus and the 21 Divisions! Bonswa a are generally societ is the standard greeting given to simply by these Loas once they arive. They say: "Bonswa a are generally societ! ", just about all respond: "Bonswa! inch. Once these Loas arrive, they want there things (fula, drinks, cigars, in addition to what ever else they often want to wear so they can use), these things are given to the Loas simply by La Place, this can be the person responsible for providing them with all of the above.
